Traditional Overnight Camp

Traditional Overnight Camp

Ages 6 – 15

YMCA Camp Winona provides a great traditional, overnight camping experience. We try to balance tradition with the interests of today’s campers by offering fun, exciting and safe activities.
Campers are grouped by age and gender and stay in small rustic cabins complete with built in bunk beds and air conditioning. There are up to 12 campers and two staff in each cabin surrounding centrally located bathhouses.
Our meals are prepared by our camp chefs and served family style in our air-conditioned dining hall. Our well-balanced meals include cereal, salad bar and sandwich options for those campers wishing an alternative/supplement to the meal. We are equipped to accommodate food allergies and special dietary needs.

Sunday Check In Procedure

Check In takes place on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm. Camp gates will not be open early, as the staff will be preparing for your child’s arrival. Camp Activities begin at 4:00 pm so please try to arrive with enough time for your child to settle into their cabin and be ready.

Upon arrival, all campers and parents will be directed to the Education Building (AKA Becky Building) for camper check in, final payments, cabin assignment, medical review and health check. After checking in campers receive a camp shirt and water bottle at the camp store. This is a great time to pick up any left-behind items or buy a care package. Campers will then move into their cabin and meet their counselors.

Friday Night Check Out Procedure

PLEASE NOTE: All parents picking up their camper will be required to present a state-issued picture ID before signing out their child. We must have a written authorization if the camper is to be picked up by anyone other than the custodial parent or guardian. The camper release form is available from the camp office.

YMCA Camp Winona cannot release any camper to a person under the age of 18 or to anyone whose sobriety is questionable.

Gates will open Friday at 5:00 pm. We ask that you do not pick up your camper early unless it is absolutely necessary and you have cleared it with our office.

After checking out campers from their cabin, parents are encouraged to pick up any medications and to attend the Closing Ceremony at the Education Building (AKA Becky Building).

  • 5:00 PM Gates Open
  • 5:45 PM Closing Ceremony with Session Slideshow
  • 6:05 PM Sale of Session DVD and Goodbyes to Counselors

*Campers last meal will be Friday lunch with an afternoon snack. No dinner is served.
