Blaine has been with YMCA Camp Winona since October 2014. He is from Lake City, Florida and has been involved with camp programs since he was 7 years old as a camper. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1986 with a BS in Public Relations. Blaine is a member the American Camp Association and is a Visitor for their Camp Accreditation Program. He has worked for the YMCA in various roles since 1989 and is a YMCA Senior Director.
Jackie has been with YMCA Camp Winona since October 2014. She comes here from the DeLand Family YMCA where she served as Childcare Director for 15 years. She has worked for the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA since 1997. She attended Anderson College in South Carolina. She has lived in the Volusia community most of her life. Jackie has been married to her husband, TJ for 20 years and has a daughter, Kaitlyn.
Mary has been with the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA since 2000 and started at YMCA Camp Winona in 2011. At the DeLand Family YMCA, she worked in the childcare office as well as their Kid Zone.
Because a high-quality staff is the heart of a camp experience, we set high standards for the young men and women that join our summer team. We look for young adults who will serve as outstanding role models by exhibiting high standards mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We also look for creativity, an outgoing personality, an appreciation for the outdoors, and the ability to provide leadership while being a team player. Our staff participates in a 10-day intensive pre-camp training, which includes First Aid, CPR and lifeguard certification for waterfront staff. Many staff members demonstrate an expertise in a particular program area, such as outdoor living skills, sailing, or archery.
Every employee at camp must pass a criminal background check, drug testing, and reference checks before they are hired to work at YMCA Camp Winona.
